چکیده

Moreover, I claim that:  the framework should include a metamodel and the means to implement whatever sociotechnical systems are modeled and embed these systems in an environment that supports its operation.  the metamodel and the supporting environment may be understood as (electronic or artificial) institutions.  the sociotecnical systems may be understood as normative multiagent systems  the metamodel should therefore support several “governance models”  several governance models may be built if regimentation is properly implemented in the institutional infrastructure.  the “application-pull” will often impose satisfycing criteria on the “foundational push”

“ Good Enough ” is not Good Enough : Challenges of Social Interaction in Video - Mediated Telepresence

As video-mediated communication reaches broad adoption, improving immersion and social interaction are important areas of focus in the design of tools for exploration and work-based communication. Here we present three threads of research focused on developing new ways of enabling exploration of a remote environment and interacting with the people and artifacts therein.

Extreme Security Engineering: On Employing XP Practices to Achieve “Good Enough Security” without Defining It

This paper examines practices of eXtreme Programming (XP) on the subject of their application to the development of security solutions. We introduce eXtreme Security Engineering (XSE), an application of XP practices to security engineering, and discuss its potential benefits and the scope of its applicability. We argue that XSE could help achieve “good enough security” while avoiding defining a...

Intentional Software Systems: Engineering Intentionality in Processes of Software Development and Runtime Execution Position Paper: 5 International Workshop on Economics-Driven Software Engineering Research

To satisfice their dynamic norms—that is, to be good enough with respect to prevailing process-oriented criteria such as survival, ethics, maximizing utility, or creating economic value— intentional systems must be organized to perceive, represent, processes, and respond appropriately, in the environment, to what really matters. In this paper, I take the position that software processes—both so...

Strain Hardening Analysis for M-P Interaction in Metallic Beam of T-Section

This paper derives kinematic admissible bending moment – axial force (M-P) interaction relations for mild steel by considering strain hardening idealisations. Two models for strain hardening – Linear and parabolic have been considered, the parabolic model being closer to the experiments. The interaction relations can predict strains, which is not possible in a rigid, perfectly plastic idealizat...
